Contest Graphics
Many years ago, there was a guild writing contest. And so this is the graphic I made for it. I don't even remember what that background text says.. it was just some sentence looped over and over and over. The quill I swiped online.

The newest graphic up here, as it says, it was for an art contest. There's alot going on here. The contest had categories for black and white and color art, so we have the color background (which is primary colors) mixed with the black and white on top. But on the black and white I also have various styles to it. Pointillism on the A, pen lines on the "Cont", blends, etc. And the color background has paint splotches and the like. Theres alot on this thing, I put more thought into it than you might think!

Ah, Battle of the Sexes. This is an event where people in the guild are divided into male and female groups, and then spar their heads off. whoever has the most points at the end, is the winner. So this is like the football pictures where the helmets are butting together to create lightning. Except.. not nearly as good, or cool looking. This is very old though, so I'm not ashamed. My skills just weren't up there yet.

A much more improved graphic for the new year. So much cleaner and more vibrant. The thing to look for here is that "Battle-of the-Sexes" makes the roman numeral for 3. But just in case people are slow, they can gather "3" out of the 3 lightning bolts/slash thingys.. Not really sure what they are.. Stylized bolts maybe?

I think this one needs explanation. Ever since BotS2, there was new match called the "TM". Transformation match. What this is, is a match that, if you lose 3, your character switches sexes. It makes for serious hilarity, but also adds a deeper element into the mix. because if say, the girls TM lots of guys and end up winning most, then they basically get extra girls on their team. You have to win 3 as whatever sex you flipped to, in order to go back to normal. Well in BotS, we added TM MS's (Mass spars) so now you have the option of transforming an entire GROUP of people in one shot, if you win. So the chances to TM people just skyrocketed. Because of this.. with guys switching to girls and girls switching to guys..  The line between male and female becomes pretty blurred. So thats what the "Where Two sexes, Become One.." comes in! Get it? No? Well, sucks for you then!

BotSV, as has gone tradition.. each year I try to outdo myself. Since this was such a huge venture on my part, I showed all the steps I took (well most of them) to bring it to life.
This was the first time I mixed a GC rendering with photoshop and used it for a guild image. I've done that before, but never for the guild. So since I knew specifically what I wanted, I modeled the big pieces in 3dsMAX and went from there.
The first rendering is just the stone structures. I made the rock map with photoshop and building the things in max was really easy. Spline extrusion, and some beveling.
Next, do a basic light set up, and use the sky I edited off the web, for a back drop. Originally, this was my main idea. But it looked too stark so I made myself a mountain using noise displacement on a plane with a whole TON of faces. And then grabbed points and pulled them around. Also, the red and yellow was cool.. but it didn't fit the BotS style. So I recolored it in photoshop and gave it the more blue (boys) pink (girls) look.
Lastly, add text and relight it a bit, and we're done! And while I could spend a whole 3 paragraphs talking about how I made that text.. I'm not gonna.. =P

BotS6 posed a hard challenge for me. With 5's graphic, I had really outdone myself, and topping that was real impossible.
Rather than work myself over that, I decided to go with something different instead. Something more graphic.
After a mess of sketches, i came on something I liked, and went with it. I wanted the logo to be the standout part of the graphic this year, and for it to look pleasing without effects. I later took it and made it into something that would be possibly a pin for the people who played, and they all said it would make a kick ass pin! But alas it's just digital. Either way, when it was time to make the final logo I wanted to make everything work around the logo. So the X becomes part of the 6, and "of the" is the tip of the X, and the last detail about the logo is that the females lost this year.. So the / cuts into their smybol. As if crossing them out or something similar.
All these little details that I bet no one ever notices.. ^_-

BotS 7 was another wide departure from the graphic style. I again, wanted to try something different. A warning accouncement seemed like a near idea. And, it was relevant to what was actually going on. Since all those warnings did in fact, happen. And I still went and made a killer logo anyway.

For 8, I more or less went back to my old style. Of making a crazy combined logo, with effects all over! But hey, the classics never die.
